OK it’s all going to kick off a little in Lithium comic #3. We discover a little more about Charlie’s Mum’s dark galaxy-domination secrets, and so we need somewhere for the baddies to chat.
To that end, I’ve used 3d architectural and prop freebies to create the HQ that was hinted at in comic #2. I think there’s an important philosophical point being made in Star Wars (and it’s made in Star Trek and Lord of the Rings etc in various ways too), that there are fundamental problems in any hierarchy of control, if those lower down the pecking-order have a lower perceived value.
It’s a principle we see in Christian symbolism that we all have the same unchangeable value (hence the Fellowship of the Ring; all the goodies bring whatever they are to the table, and that’s enough to kick the evil hierarchical dudes), and I’ve been thinking about this profound thing recently, because it seems a really obvious point, but it’s really really not. So often when we perceive ourselves as failures, we self-isolate, we duplicate effort, and we feel turmoil. I think this is all linked to our perception of our own inherent value. If that value can go up or down then (again and again in the real world I’ve seen this) the symptoms are isolation, turmoil and basically death! Bummer. Hate death it sucks. It seems like if we focus on the truth that our value is unchangeable and extraordinary, then the symptoms are reconnection, joy and peace: we become free of the hierarchy of control.
But I can’t for the life of me figure out why! It just seems to be one of those universal constants. Which is I guess why the writers of LOTR or Star Wars / Trek often study this devaluation stuff. This hierarchy stuff. Control and subjugation and all that bullshit.
Anyway, time to put on some shoulder pads and surround myself with subordinates, see what happens…
