Fifty naughty boys

Anyone who’s done any 3D will have learnt the lesson that as soon as you add objects your scene rendering time jumps up – add five chairs and things slow down, add three people and you triple the processing maths; human characters are particularly complex.

So you’ll probably appreciate this test render. Fifty actual people in combat gear. It’s one thing to load the scene, another to render any light, bouncing between and being absorbed by, fifty complex, organic, multi-faceted badass mother fuckers.

Ahh, nice to embrace my inner geek now and then. When you get to this scene in the comic, you’ll have completely forgotten that this is a massive computer processing orgy going on, and you’ll be completely absorbed in the context. By this stage, the music’s playing and the heart’s beating. Looks dull, and there’s no fighting involved, but believe me, this is the good shit.

So fun!

Here’s some homework for you: listen to Misere by Gregorio Allegri (the 8:18 version). I was going to have it as the backing track to an earlier scene, but the music’s too lyrical; makes it hard to read and be in the moment. Great music though, worth a listen.
