Tis the season to be … restful.

Hey everybody! In one of my particular spheres of work, this time of year is referred to as ‘the silly season’, and I’m kinda warming to the name because, let’s face it … things go a bit silly.

Silly is nice sometimes, sure. But sometimes silly is also a bit tiring and a bit much, phewph!

The top secret (not at all top secret) comic I’ve been working on is coming along very [very] nicely indeed – we’re at about 140 pages and I’ve not started making the final scenes yet so it’s turning into a bit of an epic. Which is good. Because yum yum.

A big thank you to all the kind people for the messages and support I’ve received over recent weeks – thank you. I think people are right about not rushing but looking after myself; I need to take this advice which I so often deal out to other people! Yes. I will take it easy and look after myself, particularly in this season of silliness.

I originally wanted this comic to be out before Christmas, because I’m aware that lots of people go home to difficult situations, and I wanted the comic to be a gift for them heading into difficult relationships – which is exactly the topic of the comic.

But timing has not worked out that way and it will instead be a gift for people after the Christmas break – to be honest, January/Feb is the darkest time of year anyway and I think this story might be timed rather nicely fitting in with that, too – it starts in some extreme darkness and slowly, gently leads us into pure, wonderful light. In the meantime, if you are feeling the lack of a life-giving comic of wonder, I would strongly recommend you check out the rather magnificent work of Tira 🙂

So. Let us allow the magic to happen. Unclench our fists, loose tightly-gripped wants and knotted should-be’s, let’s rest and be us and be still and bring the joy when it is time to bring the joy.
