Wanted to say thank you to everyone for all the wonderful comments on the recent Lithium comic; people are amazing, aren’t they?! Yes, you are.
I’m glad the feedback form asked the “What was your favourite bit?” question, because it always surprises me how people can gain so much from the slightest, tiniest little bits and that makes the comic special for them. Strange, that, isn’t it? I suppose knowing people pick up tiny little bits does encourage me to continue to focus on the little weird things that I find funny, and carry on making that stuff anyway, hehehh.
Secondly, I’ve been thinking of re-releasing the One Human, Being series but changing it ever so slightly (not in the George Lucas sense, more in the cover art sense). I read the whole thing a few days back, and honestly I was quite surprised by it – it basically says everything I could really want to say in a comic series. It’s very different to Lithium, a lot less silly, but the endings of the last few comics really packed a punch I was not expecting – I’m pretty proud of the series, truth be told.
I’m thinking I might produce some custom cover art that ‘sells’ it a bit better, you know what I mean? I did those blue covers as a sort of artistic volume thing, but I’ve noticed it does make a big difference to the number of readers each comic gets – globally it’s probably more like 400k people than 5-6 million people, thanks purely to what’s on the cover!
So … yeah keep an eye out for that soon. I might have a think about re-wording some of the conversational stuff too, especially in comic #2; it lays on the preaching a little thick. I was trying to make some points, but it is a bit ham-fisted, unlike the end of the series which gets a little more elegant. But that’s okay, I mean we’re always going to develop as writers / creative producers, right?
