Lies, damn lies, and Google Analytics.

Thought I’d log into the ol’ Google-mo-tron and find out [vague information] about my blog visitors.

It’s been interesting producing a series of comics which is increasingly equality-focussed in its values – I wondered if that correlated with the type of visitor I got. Turns out it does! I started off with what is probably fairly typical erotic blog demographics – 95% middle aged males (which is fine, no problems with that).

Then as I released comics like the later OHB comics, it steadily rose to 10% female visitors, then when I released Telepathic Hentai Tentacle Spacey Rapey Sex Trek 9000 it jumped to 13% female visitors from that comic alone. Not exactly the most feminist title, that one, but the whole point of the comic is equality, so it’s been cool to see my followers start to go towards balancing out a bit, see age and gender move towards a healthy balance.
Main visitor cohort comes from North America (it’s one of the colonies, apparently, over on the left), interesting to see the distribution of people there, too – check out the visitor density map, above. That could correlate with population though, so it’s a pretty even spread. Although I didn’t think Texas had that massive a population compared to California or New York…?

So, looking at Texas (above), there’s a few hundred users in each of the big cities. Is that weird? Like, if you live in one of those cities, you could literally go to the shops (assuming there are shops in Texas) and walk past someone else who secretly also likes my comics! Weird.
“Yes my good man, [I can’t do the accent] I’ll have a pound of beef jerky, a huge hat of some sort, and an awkward desire to hump my little brother whilst reading over-engineered English witticisms and 1980s cultural references … I mean …”
“My good madam, I too read English comics about a young man’s awkward desire to hump his elder sister!”
“Goodness, what a coincidence! Let’s … get a group discount on therapy, I guess? Idk.”

Man, I’d love to have like a radar that flagged up people who liked my comics when I was walking around the place, it’d be so cool to quiz them on it.

Ah, we can but dream.
