OFFFFCCCOOOMMMMM

Apparently there’s new rules in the UK for age verification of adult websites, meaning I might have to close this site? Hmmm. Hopefully not. I have no idea how to apply age verification stuff on this website – especially not for free, anyone know of WP plugins etc I could use to block the site in the UK only? That seems the easiest way to keep them happy – the issue being the site is hosted on UK servers.

If I can’t do it for free then maybe I’d need to remove all the lovely booby pics on this website? That’s one way to do it.

I could replace them all with ASCII art   ->>>   (.)(.)

Or for really big boobs I guess I just inflate them with more spaces  ->>>    (     .    ) (    .    )

… damn, that was funnier than I expected. I’ve made myself giggle. Tsss, silliness. Aaaanyway, yes so boobies, eh? Lovely.

  1. Yeah… Boobies are the pure evil…. but a rapist of a 15 years old girl needs understanding and care because he comes from a war zone. And since he almost has a job and a permanent housing unit, he’s well on his way to integrating into society. Therefore, only one year of probation and 3K in damages to the victim. The girl can do more with that than if the perpetrator were behind bars.
    This is so fucked up.
(sry for the english, had to use google-translater but yes this is a real courtruling and a real statement of a judge – https://www.focus.de/panorama/welt/auf-gutem-weg-normaler-mitbuerger-zu-werden-syrer-vergewaltigt-15-jaehrige-und-kommt-mit-bewaehrung-davon_id_187339753.html )

  2. If this is WordPress:
Steps for Implementation (Example using a plugin like AgeGate on WordPress):

    1. Install the plugin:
Navigate to the “Plugins” section in your WordPress dashboard, search for “agegate”, and install the plugin.

    2. Activate the plugin:
Click “Activate” to enable the plugin.
    3. Configure settings:
Go to the plugin’s settings page and customize the age verification process.

Set the minimum age for access.

Choose whether to apply the restriction to the entire website or specific content.
Select the validation method (e.g., date of birth input, dropdowns, or yes/no buttons).
Customize the appearance of the popup, including text, colors, and background.

    4. Test:
Preview your website to ensure the age verification popup is working as expected.

  3. Hi Charles and Sindy,

I’m not sure asking for a date of birth will satisfy the legislation. In a fit of insanity, the UK government is demanding we age-verify using credit cards, passports or driving licences. You can imagine just how keen people are to give their personal details to porn sites (that will, inevitably, leak the data at some future date ready for blackmail hacking).

I think, Sindy, that you’re going to be safest blocking UK IP addresses and assuming that we all know how to use VPNs.

    1. Yeah, sounds like I’ll need to do that. Um … next question … how do I block UK IP addresses? Is that a host thing or can I just stick a free wordpress plugin on there?

      1. You need a wordpress plugin for “GeoBlocking”, like “Geo Blocker” or “IP2Location Country Blocker”. There you should be able to to block out users from countries.

2 Things: the UK law seems to need a “solid” age verification, like ID, creditcard so on.
When I geolocate your site…it’s hosted in New Jersey:
        https://tools.keycdn.com/geo?host=sindyannajones.com
        So…yeah?!

      2. I have the technical skills of a sponge so I’m not sure it’d be helpful if I gave you advice. Though sponges are really cool. Put one in a blender then pop it back into salt water and it’ll reform. They’re terrible with IT, though. Like me.

  4. @Charles: it is WordPress 6.8.2

BTW: it is only for the UK. As I understand it, everybody else should be bypassed.
As Phartiphuckborlz said, blocking UK would be the fastest way, until you figued out something new.

  5. The real questiojn is “How will this impact randy Andy’s viewing habits?” Good luck.
In the good old USA a major grocery chain is now demanding to scan our old farts drivers’ licenses for age verification when purchasing alcohol.

    1. Hahah! I went to America once, and bought some clothes and they were like “What’s you zip code?” and I just looked at them like even if I had a zip code I wouldn’t tell you nobs! Ended up just saying random numbers until they let me buy the clothes. Seriously, the arbitrary capitalism-based rules you poor bastards have to put up with are bizarre

  6. The UK has the Online Safety Act.
Half of all US states have requirements.
By the end of the year, Australia will have something in place.
The EU is looking at implementing something similar to what the UK has.

  7. One site I use had live webcam access to take a photo. The other asked you to just submit a photo. AI then judges your age and they delete the photo. It took less than a second for them to count my lack of black hairs. I would be unsurprised if they get a lot of photos of Santa Claus. These are standalone services who will do the job for you (ooh err missus!) for a price. Presumably depending on how many need verifying. Of course, if they are fans they might do it for you pro boner (That’s your actual French!). Anyone recognising the parentheticals in this paragraph should pass easily.

No defence for sex education? You do explore some extreme cases of relationship, mental health and sexual situations and ethics that are probably not included in the standard school curriculum.

“Platforms failing this duty would be liable to fines of up to £18 million or 10% of their annual turnover, whichever is higher.” I am assuming the £18 million would be higher.
