One hundred pages!

Important news: comic update! Okay so I did something I never normally do today – I pulled a ‘sickie’, and didn’t bother to go to work. I never do that normally, disagree with the whole thing of pretending you’re more ill than you are. Very bad, don’t do it. Naughty. No.

But in my defence … I felt like it. And I did far more important work: Lithium comic, completing the 100th page! Hooray! I’m quite pleased with how it’s going, tbh – it will be a pretty long comic, but I think for the final Lithium, it makes sense of, and ties together the series pretty nicely. We’ll see, we’ll see. Feel pretty positive about it so far, tho ~ and that’s not always the case with these things.

Unusually for this comic, there’s actually some **NUDITY** in this one, so reader beware. Adult themes. I know. Weird of me to produce something with nudity, but it’s tastefully done, it’s tastefully done …

I won’t share too many images here because I don’t want to give anything away, but hopefully you can tell from the darker image at the top of the page; I’m putting everything I’ve learnt into it, foggy atmospherics, lighting, layout, all that stuff. Quite dramatic in places, really. For the detail-spotters out there, this dark scene happens immediately after they walk past a series of Rembrandt paintings – Rembrandt’s dark chiaroscuro leaking its wonder into the ‘real’ world of the comic, as the incredible darkness and lightness of the real makes itself known. Jolly good, jolly good.

Quite like the light and dark of Kinfolk really, I think I learnt bit about slowing down, while I worked on that comic;

Subtlety and lighting is quite an artform, it seems – and I’ve always loved Rembrandt’s culture-shifting approach to light. I’ll never approach his genius, but I definitely appreciate it.

Lighting makes suuuuch a difference. Also, boobies.

… anyway yeah. You’ve seen those comics, hopefully you get what I mean. Light and dark. Yes.

How’s everything going for you lot, eh? Enjoying the emboldenation of the far right as if nobody had learnt anything from any history? Eahhhh, classic stuff. Classic stuff.

  1. Any way to get an early peek at a script or some storyboards? Or do you write as the images are composed?

Your comics encourage me to explore the medium, and I’d love a peek at your process, a look behind the scenes to see “how the sausage is made”. (Heh. So to speak.)

Much of my writing is entombed in passe blogs. Some of it could work in comic form, and some other parts could work as images with text overlays and/or audio narration (no need for animation).

But do I want to climb the learning curve to make my own 3D images? I’ve made earnest attempts to learn to draw, and while I can reliably sketch what’s in front of me, I have great trouble drawing from my imagination. My hope is I can do my image composition at a higher level of abstraction.

Years ago I looked into using Blender to help illustrate and document an engineering project, and ran away in horror at the steep learning curve, despite having half the content already available from CAD programs.

Are the tools (and process) you use any easier in comparison?

    Thanks!

    1. I was going to say no, but heck here you go: https://mega.nz/file/HCwgxAhb#rqvp6fF3PPu1Sl_80e-jPIAJG18EGRmB-oZ63cBR114 (INCLUDES SPOILERS!!!!! These may spoil some parts of the upcoming Lithium #14 so be warned)

In that text file, I’ve just shared the first third of the upcoming comic script so as not to give away too much – but you can see the process. There’s a little bit of stage direction noting for myself, but mostly it’s just conversation, grouped into what I’m thinking the renders will be, so I use // to represent the same person talking but split their speech bubble to make a little pause, then I use line breaks to denote render or page breaks – that way I can plan and read through the rhythm of the conversation, and I know when I need to speed up or have spaces for silence or whatever.

I’ll give away some more poser scenes soon, that way you can see how I set it up. But yeah – Blender is a NIGHTMARE to learn, I wouldn’t touch it. I also tried Daz3D and found it really hard. Poser is slithgly less powerful than those, but the user interface makes it more friendly/quicker to produce content, I find.

  2. I can honestly count on the fingers of one foot how many adult comic authors actually put ROMANCE in their works instead of just going straight for the triple anal assault by panel 3.

Keep up the good work, Sindy. Single-handedly showing that romance in porn comics isn’t dead.

  3. Hello Sindy.

First, I love your comics. I love, how the couples interact, with respect, not trying do dominate, but after they managed to come together, without shame and without limitations, except: both want it. (For me, perverted is, when one of the involved persons don’t want it…)

By the way: I kow, it’s necessary for the story and the tension for the two of them, especially being sibblings…. But you argue often for good comunications and to speak to each other about issues… In relationship, your protagonists don’t follow that rule. (I know, they have to behave like they do, to support the story, but sometimes I’d like to yell to them ‘Fuck, tell him/her about your feelings!’)

I love the view of your comics.
In real life, I’m in for smaller boobies, because in real live, real boobs follow gravitation… But here, nipples always are are nicely pointing towards the sky, no matter how big the boobs are. (Like the cocks point up and are rock hard all the time. Things have to be overdone in comics. No questions about that.)
But, (being an engineer,) there is one point that I alway find… disturbing… maybe not anoying, but distracting, about boobs not only in your pictures, but all over the erotic comics, painted pictures even photoshopped real pictures… When the woman gets on her back, often even when she ist hanging upside down, laying at her side, or being in space without gravity, or being in water, what would have the same effect…. boobs still look the same like if she is standing, you know, dirction of gravity is still pointing to her feet.
I had my own humble tryings with poser and gave it up quickly, and I have the biggest respect for all, that can can create not only persons but also whole sceenes. But there is realy no way, that boobs follow gravitation without looking like totally build out of silicone? Just a questinon, I couldn’t do that.

About light, yes, light does a lot. I’m anoyed if pictures are realy dark, so you can hardly see anything. Especially in movies. Ok there it is meant, so you don’t see the presuambly not existing details… But I like to see, what’s on a picture, when I look at it, not being forced to guess, what might be there or happen. So, some of that pictures in the beginning of Kinfolk are too dark for me in that way, but just my opinion (and feedback).

As said I love your work.
And I love, you give it away for free. I often have a bad feeling, do download something for free. Of course not, if I download it, find it disgusting and delete it right away… but if it is good, and you can see, it was a lot of work… yea, I would like to pay for it… after I judged it, not before, what is the problem with ebooks an stuff like that. Sometimes I found a way to pay the author in one or the other way. But for your work it is easing my conscience, that I can download it for free, (also I would pay for it.)

I hope, you go on with it, and I hope, you have fun, with what you do.
    Thank you
    Hugo

    1. Hehh thanks Hugo. Yeah, believe it or not I do apply some physics to boobies, so if someone is lying to the side, they go sideways – if on their back, they squish flatter than if they were on all-fours. Problem is, the boobs I designed are so sticking-out to begin with, you can hardly tell when they’re going 30% flatter hehe. Ah well, boobies eh?

  4. Non-sick PTO is what can keep us sane and healthy. And we just might to our work better and feel better about it when we return to the grind.

  5. Great lighting and boobies is a fabulous combination no doubt about it. It’s just one of the many facets of your work that separates it from the dross all around. I have been stuck down a reddit lead rabbit hole of AI imagery for rather too long and while it looks great it is ultimately empty. So I’m very excited to see that Lithium is making good progress, and a bit of light and shade will undoubtedly make it that much more visually dynamic. You’ll have to pull another sickie, it’s a national pastime I hear! xx
