You may wonder why my comics production has sliiightly reduced in recent years. Well, for one, there’s no longer a Pandemic on, so regular make-the-most-of-outside life has resumed. But the other major reason is … okay bear in mind I am a functioning adult with responsibilities and duties … the other reason is Minecraft.
Anyone else obsessed? Just me? I found that even on the Switch, I can pay £20 and get a year of online as well, so I’ve been haunting Hive and Cubecraft servers, playing literally the most addictive cutesy little games on the planet. I think I spend more time on Hide and Seek than I do watching normal telly. It’s a good mindless brain-rotter sort of thing to do, you know like watching Red Dwarf or Friends used to be.
And yes Skylar is playing Hide and Seek on Hive, and is a white quartz cube with a pirate hat and a monocle. That’s me. And no I’m afraid I’m not going to share my Minecraft username cos … you know … privacy. But heck you might find me in there if ur on Euro servers 🙂

This idea that playing videogames is, somehow, an Inferior form of passing time over watching TV has always confused me. Especially a creative game like Minecraft.

I once started playing on a Saturday morning, I didn’t even notice I was hungry until it was 6pm. Made myself some dinner and kept playing. Before I knew it, it was 5am on Sunday morning. I had to tear myself away and FORCE myself to go to bed.
It’s the only game I know that reminds you to take a break every two hours, and the time between those reminders does NOT feel like two hours.
